It’s not hard to accept that there was good and sometimes great things happening in any place with negatives broadly and blatantly to be said about it.
Look at the scientific and biological advancements made by the Nazis as the most egregious and obvious one… We learned how to save people from hypothermia thanks to war crimes… We still haven’t figured out how to come to terms with the fact that we really want the information but the way it was gotten was terrible.
Nothing is in a vacuum. The USSR joined communities and pushed technological and cultural advancements that were quite impressive, but it doesn’t mean they are perfect or good forever. Same with capitalism, and we can see down the line stagnation of either causes massive issues.
And the people downvoting this shows this is still a hard topic and why Buddhism should be taught more. Impermanence and flaws are natural and change is the only way forward cause everything is always changing whether we want it or not. The best option is to modify and flow with life and change the things you hold dear to work the new real reality.
If there is ‘gray to the world’ does that mean you accept that there must be a positive as well as a negative side to the USSR?
