I’ve been thinking of this for some days and can not convince myself whether it has some point or not. I live in Europe and we’re experiencing a terrible crisis (whose worst part has not yet come) and all the media tell is that is “because of the war”. Inflation is due to the war, economic regression is due to the war, high taxes and cuts to welfare are due to the war, etc. But my sensation is that there’s more to it… Public expenditure has skyrocketed to buy weapons and not all countries were prepared to do so. Sanctions contributed too, as well as financial speculation (which is more related to human greed rather than the war itself). But my idea is that the whole western model was flawed and could only sustain itself on the bases of colonialism where rich countries dominated (or established market rules) to the detriment of poorer nations. Today these suppliers refuse to undergo western rule and this is why everything is collapsing here. Which is a good thing, because a society based on inequality and exploitation must collapse. What’s your opinion about it?

I certainly don’t know all the factors but I can be sure in the fact that the blockade of Russia, the US vs China trade wars (Which the US kindly dragged all his allies into) are certainly part of the issue, the fact that the dollar is on the road to collapsing is could be another factor. And times of crisis the proletariat gets angry and the system tries to diverge this anger towards facism (today somewhat embodied in the Ukraine war) in order to prevent a socialist revolution, which is something that in this moments is essential that is made the focus of the masses. Proletariat of the world, UNITE!

You are right, they are trying to direct the anger towards minorities and immigrants, in order to avert the blame towards oppressing landlords and entrepreneurs. But today we have social media and a generally higher level of education, so it won’t be as easy as in the past centuries.

Pretty sure all social media is deep in the pocket of the ruling class and serves to mislead the working class

Most certainly, places like this where we are are still extremely niche, but nonetheless vital parts of the resistance. Since social media as you said is in the pocket of big capital, being so the algorithm is tailored to quell the feeling of revolt(for more on that see Mark Fisher’s capitalist realism, or check this out https://yewtu.be/watch?v=f62SRvGCPQo it has English subtitles, it’s a magnificent fellow Brazilian comrade) while setting a looping trap of distraction, so people feel like they are fighting the system promoting and liking the people who look like are doing something, while just being a colorful distraction, the way forward is organization, form/join cooperative groups, communist parties or any gathering of people debating openly this Ideas, specially, if at all possible, an in personal organization group, so there can be real action, strikes protests and factual resistance, or else they will roll us over, the word of order is to UNITE!

Let’s be honest. People made it work back then even with less communication. And they had simpler lives with less to lose.

I wonder how long and deep this backslide will be before the masses rise up. Zombies are the stand in for that fear let’s hope we don’t rot that much before we get better
