A new study conducted by medical school students and faculty at the University of Minnesota found that medical students of all racial backgrounds disproportionately come from affluent backgrounds. The study raises questions about the importance of socioeconomic diversity and the potential impact on health care.

It’s all working by design. Workers have neither the time nor the resources to supplement abysmal public education made worse by systematic austerity-driven defunding and the consequences of redlining. Poorer educational outcomes result in lower test scores and fewer opportunities.
For the few that manage to somehow claw their way out of the mire a massive tax in the form of student loans awaits… if the pesky poors have the audacity to pursue education as a means of bettering their material conditions.
None of these issues impact, nor are any concern of, the rich, who have by now picked the carcass of the American working class clean and are getting started on making broth from the bones.
