I think that #1680 goes too far and hides too much information of removed content, making the mod log useless. For example, here is a removed post:

This used to have the title, text and link still shown, which allowed users to see for themselves what was removed, and to decide themselves if it made sense. Its also the reason we are adding a separate purge option.

So I suggest that we blank out info only if the creator themselves deleted an item, and probably for removed comments as well (there, text is hidden from the website, so it makes sense to hide it from the api too). But removed posts and communities should still show all information.

    I think if the text is completely hidden like it is now, that makes the mod log almost useless. Sure you can see what was removed, but you cant judge for yourself if that seems correct. There are only few cases where a post/comment is so bad that it should be hidden completely (and thats what purge is for).

    One option could be to show the text of removed posts/comments only to users who are logged in. Or only to admins and mods of that community (could be configurable).
