TL;DR: I want to find and buy like 12 simple (South American?) net hammocks.

When I was a young kid my mother got an assignment requiring us to move to Cartagena, Colombia for a couple of months. I remember us living with a small community of families on the beach. All us kids did was swim, build sand castles, play with giant tortoises, and most importantly HANG OUT.

This was done inside a very simple thatch roof bungalow where maybe 12 hammocks were spaced out in a circle connected to central pole.

We hung out there during the sweltering mid day, or during fantastic stormy nights, or jus about all the time, drawing down a mosquito net around the bungalow for protection when needed.

I have flashbacks to this memory every so often and now that I have a family of my own, and we have a small cabin with enough open space, I hope to recreate this experience, or rather the bungalow for hot summer days and nights (well, as hot as they can get in Scandinavia…)

I am up to doing the “hard work” of building the bungalow, but searching for suitable hammocks has been harder than I thought. -It’s all camping hammocks (which I find fantastic for other reasons) or very expensive bespoke creations.

I hope to find those simple, though beautiful, hammocks I remember being like thick colorful nets. I remember some of them could stretch to easily swallow a handful of small kids, or a couple of grownups, but also be comfortable for a single occupant. Some of them where more meant for one person.

So, I joined this fine subreddit to ask for help in finding suitable hammocks that I could purchase a bunch of without it costing a fortune.

Thanks for sticking all the way through this memory of mine!
