For some context, my husband and I got married in April. Our contract with the wedding photographer stated 6-8 weeks to get our photos back. That would have been mid June. It is now mid September and we still don’t have our photos. I have reach out and keep getting told soon or they will give us specific dates that we will have them by and those dates have passed with nothing. This week we talked to a lawyer and had a demand letter sent. They finally responded to my messages today (I don’t think they got the letter yet since it was just mailed yesterday afternoon) saying they had severe mental health issues and that’s why my photos have been delayed. I feel terrible now knowing why they have been so delayed but after many empty promises and mostly being ghosted, I wasn’t sure what else to do to get either my photos or money back.
So AITA?
ESH, but a soft one.
Deadline of 8 weeks, we’re now at about 12 (50% past deadline). You paid them for the service, presumably agreeing to the deadline ahead of time. Unprofessional as all hell, but there’s a lot of cowboys in wedding photography.
They’re definitely in the wrong, but you might have jumped the gun a bit when it comes to engaging lawyers. It was probably always going to come to it, but I’d have at least sent my own demand letter before a lawyer’s.
