We have a (now ancient) storage system that we are looking to replace in full. We’re an HPC research organization, and move roughly 60-90TB of data per day with expected growth to 120-150TB per day in the next few months. About 80% of the files are between 300KB and 100MB.

We’re looking to try and get the fastest storage solution possible, and ultimately decided a JBOF setup to connect to our 400G internal network would be best. For the connection between the JBOFs and controllers, what would be the best option between iSCSI and FC-NVMe? Our old system used 16gb FC, but if iSCSI could provide better performance, we’re open to it.

The JBOFs we’re looking at are E1.L JBOFs if that makes any difference.
