Altho I like Bertrand’s art (which I posted earlier), this piece is one of many by Moebius that helps me realise how much more natural of a wordless storyteller he was.

Certain things are obvious, such as the two people greeting each other, but I feel there’s also a bunch of subtle, intuitive elements scattered all around that flesh out the scene and make one ponder, connecting the dots where they may.

The irony here is that Bertrand deliberately worked to tell a wordless story across 100 pages, achieving debatable results, while Giraud managed to do it almost effortlessly in a single image.

It’s worth a look. It’s very ethereal and Ghibli-esque. The aesthetic is great, as is the lore, and the absence of any enemies makes for a calming experience. Unfortunately it was incredibly buggy when it released on Xbox. Hopefully that’s improved since launch, but I encountered a game-breaking bug at one point that remained even after reinstalling, so I was forced to give up on it.
