There’s no circus contortion studio near where I live, so I was thinking yoga might be a good alternative. I know next to nothing about yoga, but I’m more interested in contortion aspects.

My studio has the following,

  • Yin
  • Hath
  • Ashtanga Vinjasa
  • Kundalini

Which one would be the closest to contortion?

    Which contortion aspects?

I’d find a Hatha instructor and tell them you’d like to focus on twists. Possibly also go for a Yin routine to increase your lower body flexibility.

Ashtanga is about stamina and Kundalini is more about trance.

Yoga is very different to circus fitness, so YMMV.

I need help with certain aspects of lower body flexibility (side splits, hip flexor), shoulder flexibility and upper spine. I’m looking or things like scorpion and bridge improvements.

Lower body, I just want someone to watch and correct the positioning. For upper, I’m looking for someone to help me with safety in the beginner phase for some of these things. I haven’t done much upper body because I’m afraid of hurting myself.
