Buy European@feddit.uk•How do I easily invest in green, European businesses?English
5·1 day agoOne option could be to find a bank that you actually trust.
If you don’t want someone else to invest for you and want an easy way to invest I guess the best way is to find one or several indexes that fit your requirements and invest in those.
For example there is the "MSCI Europe Select Green 50 Index

Crazy Fucking Videos@lemmy.world•Another angle of the UPS Airlines Flight 2976 crash at Louisville International Airport.English
1·2 days agoIt’s probably worse.
In the 90s Boeing and McDonnell Douglas were the two major aircraft manufacturers in the US.
One was thriving, renowned for it’s engineering excellency and the quality of the aircraft there produced: Boeing.
The other one was facing technical issues, development cost overruns, growing unit costs, and delays mostly due to leadership and management decisions: McDonnel Douglas.
In 1997 they merged, the new entity kept the name Boeing but most of the leadership positions were filled by executives coming from McDonnel Douglas.
For a lot of people this merger marks the moment Boeing started to spiral downwards.

3DPrinting@lemmy.world•PRUSA releases the OpenPrintTag, open source standard for filament spool identification and data trackingEnglish
4·7 days agoBy itself, it’s does not solve anything.
However it gives some extra data that can be used by the printer firmware.
The NFC tag contains data about the right printing temperatures, the color, the amount of filament left in there spool …
So a lot of QOL features can be developed with that. For example
- having a message of the amount of filament left in not enough to finish the print I’m about to start,
- auto adjust temperatures depending on the loaded filament,
- importing a library of available filament in the slicer just by taping the spool on the NFC reader.
- using this library of filament for multicolor/multi material printing. So instead of printing selecting each head individually in the slicer and then having to remember to load the right filament, right color in each head you can just select the filament you actually want and the printer will manage.

3·8 days agoFrance did that.
Since 2023, for every parking lot bigger than 1500m², new or already existing, solar panel coverage has to be installed before 2026 or 2028.
The solar panels need to cover at least half the parking lot area.
Another requirement is rainwater management system that cover at least half of the parking area. It can be rainwater collection, trees … Anything that allows rainwater to infiltrate the soil.
PS: for americans, 1500m² is equivalent to 372 king size beds, or 1/2500 central park

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is the best most nutritionally complete soup?
7·11 days agoI love borscht.
You can also start fermenting beetroots to add to the soup, I think traditionally the recipe was using fermented beets.
It quite easy to do, lacto-fermented vegetables have a lot of health benefits and it being umami and a slight tanginess to the soup that brings it to a complete new level.

2·15 days agoI have an EV but did not know about BYO cable, so I went to check what it means and yeah, every AC charger I’ve encountered in Europe is like that. Just a plug, in some cases it’s even protected with a metallic cover that unlocks once you’ve entered your payment information.
It does not work for fast DC charging though.

1·18 days agoSafran Aircraft Engines (the French part of the CFM consortium) knows how to design and manufacture fighter jet engines.
They are doing the M88 that powers the Rafale.
There is legislation about that. Not in the US of course, but in France and I think other European countries there is laws requiring to turn off ads, light in empty parkings lots, street lights … In the middle of the night.

It’s a chicken and eggs problem, without cars the nearest place to spend money wouldn’t be 20 miles away.
