BenjiRenji@feddit.orgto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Which country do you live in and how much paid time off work do you get?4·7 days agoSwitzerland - 20 days is the legal limit, but we get 30 with one week around Christmas + New Year’s Eve being mandatory.
I also got a special perk where I work 90% but due to a limitation of our system where we enter PTO, every Friday I take off doesn’t count against my PTO budget (rather than only every second Friday). I have not told anyone.

Had the same as a Swiss guy living there: sure, everybody loves Roger Federer, but they also know about Nazi gold and the banking secret protecting dictatorships. And they just ask about it directly. Would never happen on Japanese topics though.

Too bad I’m a boobs guy and thus can wait for the PC port.

The first threat about cutting off water was an empty one so now they are floating some military strike just to appear thst they care? I may eat my words here, but neither party is going to risk a full on war with an enemy with nukes over a place like Kashmir.

All I’m saying is that they have an excuse for deporting them, even if it’s a bad one. I don’t understand the excuse for this case. Is there any?
Really? I’ve only seen this practice on the American continent and I’ve always wondered.
These days I get my produce directly to my front door from a farmer. This stuff lasts for at least a week, often much longer. Compared to the produce from supermarkets that seem to rot on the way home already.

BenjiRenji@feddit.orgto World News@lemmy.world•Irish woman living in US for decades detained by immigration officialsEnglish26·24 days agoThis makes residency permits completely worthless. Greencard holders other visa holders can all just be randomly detained when traveling.

BenjiRenji@feddit.orgto World News@lemmy.world•Ultra-processed food increases risk of early death, international study findsEnglish12·25 days agoMeat substitutes are not necessarily UPFs.
“Processed” is a shitty descriptor without a clear definition. Cooking a food is processing it, but some food only become degestible (like some meat) when you cook it. Bread and all baked goods are processed. Are they all going to end us?
So you may not even be making a trade here. Not all substitudes are equal.

We burn rich people’s cars and run from police. Quite a celebration. Gives the left a bad name for more centric people.

BenjiRenji@feddit.orgto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you live in a country where you think the laws are reasonably in line with what you think is just? Do the decisions of your courts usually meet your expectations in this respect?3·27 days agoI don’t like the suppression of protests in Switzerland. They are allowed if they don’t disturb the city life too much, but if they do they get disbanded by police with illegal brutality and then prosecuted and judged harshly by judges who clearly want to achieve an atmosphere of fear.
So that’s both executive and judicative that take laws in their own hands to silence protests.
And then our political finance laws are just a joke, where it’s easy to donate anonymously to parties or lobby groups to overwhelm political counterparts.
Sure, we’re a direct democracy, but capital and the establishment has found ways to stay in control. Still better than most other countries, but I still find things to complain.

Edit: Just saw they didn’t cut that money for the study after all.
True. Maga hates the man. As soon as he’s no longer “under Trump’s guidance” he won’t be able to afford much.
True, it’s a bit Swiss-focused where they have a lot of money for infrastructure, but where cities have mostly invested in cars and pedestrians, but not cycling.
Nevertheless I believe there are lessons in there that can be useful. Maybe not in Amsterdam or Copenhagen, but less bike-friendly places that want to change that.
