Guess what?
I may be one of the only people who played MEHEM and actually found it underwhelming. It takes even more of the stakes out of your choice, and then wraps up with a happy party. As much as I hate to say it, removing the agonizing choice of saving Edi + the geth vs. potentially living through the blast makes the ending ring…hollow? Though it seems that by all indications, it won’t matter in ME5, since we know the geth are back.
You can still get achievements.
Super late to the game on commenting here, but I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you asking this question!
I reached out to the Reddit Mass Effect team early on to let them know this community existed for anyone who might want to jump ship, and got a generic “thanks for letting us know.” Which, hey, that’s cool, I get it.
I think we’re on the right track, though. We’re only a month old. I was tickled to see so much content having been posted and an increase in overall engagement, as I’m just back online today after being offline for a week. Organic growth like this is the best kind we can hope for.
Building a community takes time and getting to know one another. Come to the page, engage with the content. May take some intentional effort at first, but I’m encouraged by the display we have so far. We’re nothing if not an engaged fanbase!
Wow…this sounds amazing. I really could have used something like this a year ago. I wish this were more of an option here in the states. Our system for in patient mental healthcare isn’t exactly the most compassionate, from what I understand.
Ok. I’m wrong. I did “all” this morning and it’s nothing but commies and cream pies. 😮💨
Weird, I look at posts by All fairly frequently, and I haven’t run across any porn yet. It’s mostly just AskLemmy or tech memes.
Indeed, after I made this comment I found that out. Gotta love the Mass Effect moddong community! Which reminds me, I want to make a comprehensive guide for Lemmings to read for those of us that are hesitant to look at reddit…
My favorite thing over there right now is r/videos, which only allows text descriptions of the video you were going to post. It’s way more entertaining than it has any right to be.
I see a lot of people saying, “I can’t believe it was only a 3% drop,” and I’d like to offer some context as to why there’s not enough data here to really tell a story, yet. It could go a few different ways.
The Reddit protests in June were a big deal, not just on Reddit or Lemmy, but to the media at-large. Traffic surely saw a huge influx of people wanting to look at the dumpster fire. I know that I myself used Reddit a lot leading up to the blackouts, since it was, in a sense, the last hurrah of Reddit as we knew it. The Spez AMA would have driven traffic. The NSFW sub protests would have driven traffic. All those news articles linked to Reddit directly, and they would have also driven traffic.
Even with all that, there’s still a decrease in traffic. As others have said, July will be a better metric for the actual damage done, since the media has largely moved on and aren’t driving as many visits, and 3PAs are toast.
These numbers would have been more representative if we could have had more than a quarter to look at. What was the QoQ trajectory before this? For all we know, this could have indicated business as usual, or it could have indicated something much bigger, depending on what the traffic metrics over the past 12-24 months could show us.
I also would have liked to see the history for unique sessions and unique visitors. If there was a huge influx of unique visitors compared to the past few months, but traffic was still decreased overall, then that would indicate it came from news clicks or bots.
Basically what I’m saying is that the data doesn’t paint any kind of real picture right at this moment. That doesn’t mean there was no impact though. Time will tell.
Yeah I was always annoyed at how the Cerberus armor and weapons were great, but it forced you to waltz around like a Cerberus simp. :/ Everything has to have a drawback I guess!
Whaaat I didn’t even know this was a thing that could happen!!
Thank you for joining! I’m super happy to see that there’s a wee bit of traction here.
As far as your theory, I was kinda thinking the same, actually. Maybe the search for Shepard (like we see with Liara picking up the N7 helmet) is tied to the search for figuring out WTF even happened up on the citadel; it’s not like Shep got a chance to radio ahead before deciding everyone’s fate. People are probably very confused. 😆
The only reason to go original is if you’re particularly attached to the Pinnacle Station dlc from ME1. Mod-wise, there’s still a bit more for OT than LE, but LE is starting to pull ahead, especially with the larger mod packs. I also noticed LE was more stable with mods like ALOT. (I’d get horrible shadows and red eyes with the original version, even though I installed everything in the right order.)
LE also has the benefit of not having to reapply any DLC, and graphics overhaul of ME1 is still quite stunning, especially compared to the original.
That said, you would have to start fresh with your saves. If you only care about ammo/weapon upgrades, then it’s nothing you can’t fix with a save editor.
Oh I’m quite aware my opinion is the unpopular one by a landslide! I totally respect why it’s such an important mod, and I’m glad it exists.
