Thanks for the clarification! I guess my ps2 is staying on the side of my ps5 for now then 😇

Clearly not something which would encourage me to keep playing videogames.
What happens if you buy a game and hate it?
I’d be ready to pay more for a physical game just to be sure I could resell it if I don’t enjoy it.
There’ll always be a market for physical games.
Just think about the vinyl market right now.
Is it me or is it big news that the ps5 can play ps2 games?
Or maybe I didn’t understand well and it’s not through discs but only through a subscription…
I would love to be able to play my ps3 games on ps5, but I ain’t gonna buy them again.
I’d be ready to pay to get an official emulator though.
It’s a really interesting article about something we might not think about.
It’d be interesting also to try to see how much money they can save by using a lower bitrate or saving energy by using less servers.
It’s a lot of things we take for granted when we’re just watching a show and you don’t think about all the work behind it.
Ok Thanks for the info. I might check it out 👍
It’s an interesting article and I’m also starting to think more and more about game preservation.
I don’t understand why a company like Sony wouldn’t provide you a way to play ps1-3 games on your ps5. I would even be ready to pay for it.
There might be some technical problems I’m not seeing, but people can do it on older pc’s…
I guess the whole video game industry has to think about preserving its own history.
I don’t know if open sourcing games would help, but something needs to be done.
Even playing a game like Sim City 2000 on pc is proving challenging now on Windows. I would want to play it on Linux but I can’t imagine how difficult that would be as the game isn’t even listed in Proton DB. And the VM solution would probably not work as Steam wouldn’t support something like Windows XP…
If they could now release the few exclusives they still have on ps5 now, it would be perfect.
Do you know how much is the limit for the external drive?
The problem is also that you can only use it for PlayStation data, that’s why I went with a « small » 2tb one.
I have an external 2gb hard drive and I use it to play some ps4 games and stock the data from the ps5 games I ain’t using right now.
Games are so big nowadays and you have to download so much data that it’s almost necessary to at least have an external drive.
I feel bad saying this, but I’m now struggling to play games without trophies.
And it’s not because I wanna show off in front of my friends, because none of them cares about trophies.
Still it’s some kind of addiction.
I’m still playing a lot of gt7 even if I have almost all the trophies, but I’d be really enthusiastic about getting a new career mode with new trophies.
Oh okay thanks for the info. I don’t think it’s such a problem because it’s open source and the code can be reviewed.
Also I’m not sure American companies are less evil than companies from other superpowers.
What is the problem with its origin?
I love short games that I can play at least two times.
I’ve replayed every Uncharted or Killzone at least two times, but I’d never do that with a game like FFVII rebirth.
It doesn’t mean that FFVII is bad (I loved it in the end), but it’s important for me that they keep producing short games with a lot of replayability.
For instance, having a different trophy for every difficulty is a big incentive for me.
Also, as much as I enjoy open worlds, I don’t think every game should become one.
Regarding the graphics, I don’t think I would ever need something better looking than Last of Us part. 2. I think it would be better to focus on some details like trees or building popping up in front of the player as it takes me out of the game.
I would want to « force » my relatives to use Linux. My wife had an unsupported MacBook Pro from 2012, so I managed to convince her it would be safer to switch. Since then, she hasn’t used macOS, but she also hasn’t used Linux because she can use her work provided windows laptop 😅
I also proposed to my mom to provide IT support remotely to her via Linux, but she prefers using windows and relying on an old friend who is forcing her to buy a lot of Microsoft products otherwise he refuses to help her.
I hope I’ll at least be able to teach my kids that Linux ain’t scary 🙏
Yeah clearly Lemmy might have a lot of Linux users because Lemmy in itself is really niche. Way more than Linux.
I understand why it’s a loss for some developers, but I don’t think we should prevent Apple from integrating something in iOS just because of it.
You could also say these developers just benefited from the fact that Apple omitted to integrate some obvious features.
I have a 2018 Seat Leon Cupra ST 300, so basically a cheaper Golf VII R estate.
Previously I had an Audi S4 b6.
These newer cars are probably both great cars, but they are clearly not the same despite sharing a lot of parts.
The Golf is fake 4 wheel drive (a front wheel drive car most of the time) while the S4 isn’t.
You also clearly don’t need the same budget to keep them running as the Audi is gonna be way more expensive to run while being a bit more grown up in its attitude too.
Quality wise, I have nothing to complain about my Cupra after around 60000 kilometers.
It seems like an interesting project, especially with the problem of banking and payment apps not working on anything else than iOS or Android.
I hope one day we’ll be able to daily drive Linux phones, even if it’s through an app on a custom Android rom.
I would buy it through a kickstarter campaign as I really enjoyed the game even if it wasn’t perfect at all.
