You make a good point concerning news about rocks versus “I found a rock” posts. Moving forward, I’ll only post rocks I find. I haven’t been rockhunting in a few months because of weather. I found a meteorite (confirmed by local uni) last summer, and it’s the highlight of my finds.

I’m glad you created this community! I’d like to see Lemmy be much more science and much less politics. I love that this community is getting some good traction.

This is super interesting to me. My former career was caring for Alzheimer’s patients. And none that I worked with, had a history of obesity.

It’s one of the more horrible diseases, and I hope they find a cure for it.

I admire her. As an openly transgender elected official with membership in the Republican Party, she has used her position of privilege to work with national queer rights organizations like Log Cabin Republicans and Trans United Fund to help advance the cause of greater inclusivity and acceptance.

In 2017, she briefed members of the Department of Education on the importance of transgender student rights and coauthored “Transgender Student Safety and Equality For All Students”, a white paper in response to the Trump Administration’s decision in February of 2017 to rescind the guidances outlined in the 2016 Dear Colleague Letter on Transgender Students.

She definitely has an interesting story.

I’m like you: I prefer both sides of view, then I try to sense the truth from those too extremes.

Since Lemmy swings soooo left, this comm does have mostly focus conservative-centric articles. But there are a few here and there that are not flattering. By keeping it conservative-focused, I was hoping that at least it can balance the scales just a little bit.

The biggest thing is that a lot of Lemmy left-leaning will come here, not make any comments, and just go down the line and downvote every single article without even reading them.

Lemmy, in general, does NOT fell like both sides should be able to be heard. As you have found out!

The amount of hate I get daily is…um extreme. lolol But all good. I know that most Lemmy skews a little younger, and has a lot of extreme/anti-social users, so I don’t take any of it personally.

Thanks for dropping in tho, there are others on here that are like you. JMost don’t say it because of the extreme remarks that Lemmy has a tendency to lean into. So I appreciate your bravery and candor.

I personally believe extremism, regardless of viewpoint, is detrimental to all.
