  • You gotta keep in mind false negatives are most commonly caused by user error and the test not detecting enough COVID antigens in the sample. Antigen tests gauge infectiousness. But even if you have symptoms you may still test negative because your body isn’t producing enough of the measurable antigens. So the antigen tests are one good tool to help gauge when you are no longer infectious.

If you’re testing negative after 14 days but still have symptoms then you might still be infectious.

  • Just as a reminder, these are antigen tests.

Antigen tests help to gauge infectiousness. PCR tests gauge if you’ve contracted the virus.

Antigen tests will be NEGATIVE if your body is not producing a certain amount of COVID antigens (ie you were just infected). If you’re worried that you may have contracted COVID and/or are asymptomatic then you NEED A PCR TEST.

And if you do have COVID please use an antigen test 14 days after your first positive test (whether that was antigen or PCR) and KEEP TESTING EVERY 48 HOURS UNTIL YOU ARE NEGATIVE.

Oh and WEAR A GODDAMN MASK

  • Not wanting discomfort is understandable. I’m not trying to be facetious by saying this, but have you considered the discomfort that comes with COVID infections, for yourself and those you would potentially infect?

KN95s offer a great deal of protection. You can get/make ear-savers as well if that’s an issue (a seal check is mandatory if you do this because it changes the contour of the mask).

Sometimes I recommend IFM N95 A105, which is very similar to fold style kN95s. You can try duckbill or cup styles too.

And there’s of course plastic reusable p100 respirators, which a lot of people would associate with industrial uses. Next to adhesive seal respirators, they are most effective.

  • I will try hard to make time to report some comments and explain why those comments should be reported. As you can imagine, it will take time to do that. Please understand that I will find that a personally frustrating process, but I’ll try.

This thread offers a lot of insight you might find informative.

In general we are not angry at individuals for not wearing masks. What’s discouraging is the comments that attempt to justify not masking because it’s supposedly fruitless or ineffective. That sentiment is in that thread, a lot. Practically nobody in this comm is going to claim that your individual efforts in COVID mitigation are more important than widespread public health measures. But until public health is prioritized by governments we have an obligation to do what we can to keep each other safe. Does that make sense?
