  • I don’t like Tyson because I feel he preaches an inaccurate version of the scientific philosophy. So many times I hear him saying things along the lines of absolute certainty, because it’s SCIENCE.

Where, we of the true faith, preach: the evidence indicates that this is the most likely to be true, or at least, this model makes predictions about the world more reliably than any other we currently have.

    Amen.

  • While I know that these days, bugs in code can cause real-world harm (personal info leaks, superannuation records lost, lol google), I find it humorous to think of the equivalent, even worse outcomes in my discipline (chemical/process engineering).

“Didn’t do any checks, fuck it, I know this calculation is fire 🔥”

    Later: 🔥🔥💥

  • I do think it’s reasonable to say they are all wrong, but I agree with you, this logic provided in the image doesn’t make sense.

It being impossible for all to be true, doesn’t imply they are all false.

It’s likely they are all false, if you subscribe to the philosophy of science, where without testable evidence, it’s deemed unreasonable to assume something likely to be true.

The (in my opinion) correct opinion is that all religions are very likely false, because none have provided convincing evidence according to the scientific method.

  • Unpopular option, but the free tram zone is worthless, and subsidising people who live in the city.

Either let’s make PT entirely free, or get rid of it.

Such a pain when you’re trying to get your team home at night (and they only run every 20 mins or so), and it’s chokablock with people taking the tram 1 or 2 stops within the CBD.

Or they really ought to do something about frequency into the evening, maybe get some teams just for shuttling within the CBD, and give trams priority at lights.

You can almost walk as fast as you can tram in the CBD (not quite, but still).

    Current set up kinda sucks.

  • I don’t think any zoning laws anywhere in Australia would allow for this on public roads.

Happy to be corrected, but this shit takes it’s toll on everyone else’s wellbeing.

When I lived about 5 km from the city (Melbourne), I’d hear some arsehole (cars, as well as bikes) ripping it down the road at least every 20 minutes, all fucking day.

I do not give a shit what your hobbies are, but they had better not be giving me heart disease…

These fuckers deserve to have their bikes/cars confiscated for putting on illegal mods on the second offence. Not per vehicle, per fucking lifetime.

You get one chance, then you had better start keeping receipts so you never have an illegal mod ever again…
