Not that the GOP is in a healthy state right now, and I’m sure when they eventually lose Trump it will hurt them. But they probably won’t collapse into nothing and scatter away on the wind like Sauron. Instead it’ll probably look a lot like the Dems post-Obama: rudderless, struggling to find a new center.

They do have a few big internal divisions that they’ll have to struggle through. I think it mostly comes down to the fact that the chud reactionaries and evangelical nut jobs are too powerful in the coalition. They are supposed to be lesser parts of the coalition beneath the big business free market capitalists. Ever since Trump they’ve been a bigger part of the coalition and become too prominent nationally. They’re supposed to be lower level cranks that don’t reach higher than the city council and now Marjorie Tayloy Greene is in congress.

It needs to be a basket of different commodities. We’ll need one coat for every 20 yards of linen after all.

I went in without hope for the election and I am actually upset that the Republicans look like they’ll hold all three branches of government fully. That’s not something I had considered since I’m used to some kind of division inside congress. They can do real freak shit with the whole of the Federal government if they can all get in line. Moderately big if since there are factional divides in the party but still there are valid things to be worried about if in the grand scheme of things the empire will continue on unimpeded.

Anyway, the material conditions drive the world and they will mold and influence you as well. It’s important to build and structure your life in a way that can support your how you want to grow. Basically try to join an organization even if it’s a glorified book club and you might meet good people and restore some of your faith in humanity and also deprogram your liberalism.

That unfortunately can’t be successful without major country wide electoral reform to remove first past the post style voting. I could only really see that happening if the capitalists think that they need to destroy the current two party system to get better control of worsening conditions. Basically asking the masses to calm down and they can vote some greens and libertarians into power as a treat.

Also worth noting that the Greens (despite their poor performance) appear to have done better than the Libertarians, which I don’t think has ever happened. They did better than RFK as well. So at least there’s that.

Based on the ramblings of my brother and a kind of dumb coworker, rfk was probably a spoiler for the libertarians. The dumb non Trump voters just couldn’t get behind a candidate and the greens got to show them up.

Europe doesn’t have the ability to go it’s own way. Without energy sovereignty, which was denied to them with the ukraine war and the Nordstrom bombings, and with neoliberal austerity they won’t be able prevent deindustrialization. The world is still addicted to dollar denominated debt so I don’t see a way out for anyone else either. Also, China unfortunately just sits there keeping to themselves so they won’t be build a robust alternative to the US for a good while. Those are all short term outlooks though. I’d like to be proven wrong though.

Just looking at it we can clearly see it was riding higher than usual during covid and then quickly dropped down lower than it was before covid. People will feel that and understand that Biden was president for that entire reversal. It’s not even a complicated argument. You literally only have the one graph.

Looks like it’s reactionary fascism instead of neoliberal fascism this time around. Generally in Europe they seem to favor business as usual neoliberal fascism right now but the Americans just have to be different.

It has the chance of being a black hole that absorbs so many chuds that other states eventually turn purple/blue. It would take a while but it might happen. Really a race between that process and the combination of neoliberal rot and climate change destroying those states first.

A lot of people will not know about or understand the electoral college because it’s a stupid institution and easy to forget. A lot of people will think they still need to vote because it is a civic duty to vote because a lot of Iraqis died so that we could get our freedoms back from Saddam Hussein. And a lot of people will see their vote as a moral action to show support for their side regardless.

They have a different reality and the motivations for their actions need to be understood on the terms of their reality and not ours. It’s also beneficial to understand how their reality is formed but that’s a different conversation. It’s especially beneficial to understand their reality if you’re having a real conversation and trying to convince someone and change their mind.

There aren’t many avenues to make him ineligible and the democrats are general rules following cowards. They could try him for treason or whatever is necessary to activate the 14th ammendment I think but that would be a big precedent since that was really meant only as a fuck you to confederates.

Supporting an arms embargo, for a lot of them, is like their 30th most important issue and it isn’t any level of meaningful support or interest. It’s the equivalent of them saying they’re okay with not having lettuce on their hamburger. It’s inconsequential to them and their daily life and reality that people are being slaughtered in the middle east. What matters is their personal action of supporting the good guy versus the bad guy or getting the policies that they care about acted upon by politicians.

We (mostly the USAmeicans on this website) need to remember that we are the abnormal ones for having some of these positions and caring about them in the imperial core. The average person doesn’t know what dollar hegemony or the Balfour declaration are and they don’t care.

Most of the time I’m just normal enough. I’m not exactly hollow but I am so fucking detached from things in an unhealthy way. Maybe seeing all of the manmade horrors in Gaza made me too callused over to feel anything for the meaningless dog and pony show of American elections. I can obviously feel rage at Israel but for the ghouls of this empire dancing around saying they’re fascists I don’t feel much. Their evil is just so banal until it hits just right in the way that makes me want to rage.
