Joking aside: I may be off, but I interpreted the rule proposal https://hexbear.net/comment/5426732 as a rule that if enforced, not current news get removed and voted no as a result. Sometimes you stumble upon articles that I haven’t seen discussed here but are somewhat dated yet still contain worthwhile information
Inspired by the source in title and time qualifier proposals. While placing a time qualifier on what constitutes current news is a too strong measure imho Id propose a softer form:
Proposal:
Encouragement to post the date of news in the title or comment body on the mega, especially if you know that what you post is not current (e.g. one month)Disclaimer: I’m mostly a lurker and am aware that this can be seen as a big ask
Cool, I say that too. A person who lives in a country with multiple political parties - a variety of lib and chud parties

It doesn’t support that assertion at all. It’s highly speculative based on flight movements and a lack of response from russia lol
Also if you take lack of response from the other side as a confirmation, then oh boy have you checked what the RT and TASS are saying about the war?
Why are you presenting it as a fact when the article says
Movements of planes used by top Kremlin officials show Putin may be in a hideaway near Surgut in western Siberia, it is claimed.
Also “it is claimed” by the Ukrainian side. Do you have any Russian sources to corroborate this?

Some Western intelligence assessments have suggested the plane was shot down by a missile from Ukraine, although they could not confirm the presence of POWs on board.
A French military official told The Associated Press that the country’s military concluded that Ukrainian forces used a battery of Patriot surface-to-air missiles to shoot down the Il-76, firing from about 50 kilometers (about 30 miles) away.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to divulge the intelligence findings, said the Ukrainian battery apparently managed to stay hidden while getting closer to the target and then switched on its radar “just long enough to hit them.”
Another Western official also said the plane was downed by “a missile strike rather than any kind of mechanical failure,” and it’s almost certain the missile was fired from Ukrainian territory. The official said “it’s not yet clear” whether it was carrying Ukrainian POWs.
You’re absolutely right I haven’t ever seen that things got removed for beeing to old. Somehow the rule just read very strict to me as ESL, but liked the idea of knowing the date of the information before I click, hence the proposal.
I really appreciate the quality, transparency and participatory aspect of moderation (and hexbear general) and love the culture here. The news mega (and hb) is the first thing I check in the morning
