There’s a reason why it’s common for people to occasionally want to camp out in the middle of nowhere with no technology for a bit. If I read about some horrible news like a grandma getting shot picking olives on her own land I try to follow it up with something more lighthearted such as kittens hugging puppies. Any “human” that feels ok with locking their kid in a drawer is not fit for society. That’s not like forgetting to feed your dog one time.
Regardless of whether she was too mentally deficient to understand what she was doing or she consciously tortured this child. As long as they’re not obnoxiously loud and saying something that’s actually funny, I think it’s completely normal. People usually say funny things that they find funny so it would be natural for them to laugh a little.
