Although things are getting increasingly fucked, I also don’t trust this channel, Guard the Leaf, it feels astro-turfy to me. It was created about 4 months ago, and this is its description:

Guard The Leaf is a proudly Canadian voice covering the rising tensions between Canada and the U.S, from trade and tourism to sovereignty and survival. If it affects Canada, we talk about it. This channel is about standing up for Canadian independence, calling out disrespect, and making sure our side of the story gets told, because no one else will.

My instinct tells me that there’s this thing going on but for Canadians.

It’s kind of confusing to me how the president and supreme leader seem to be saying two different things. I’m not sure who he’s trying to appeal to. Is he trying to look good for like, international law reasons…? Is it a dual strategy, like I try to calm them down, while you do resistance stuff?

It is that but it’s also like, when you post something way too violent that could get you in trouble. So it’s kind of like blood in the water for sharks, you’d be attracting feds, so ‘fedposting’.

Sometimes I doom because I’m not “seeing” much resistance (other than lib stuff) but then I have to remember that the internet is very censored now, and people are being careful about what they say. I’m kind of isolated and not in any condition to be in an org, so my window to the world is whatever I see online. I feel like it used to be a clearer picture but now with all the [Removed by Reddit] it’s getting foggier and foggier. I have a gut feeling, and I hope it’s not just cope… but when Luigi happened, the system took a few days before it could catch up and filter out the genuine reaction of the people. For a few days you could see the unfiltered, un-astroturfed reaction of regular people to what happened. They were overwhelmingly on his side. I mean, he straight up zeroed a guy. And the whole country was celebrating. That’s something. Something really big. So either I’m crazy, or people are really logging off and… you know. That this quietness and libness isn’t just people giving up or being helpless, but rather it’s like the tide going way far out and everything getting real quiet, before the tsunami hits.

You’re basically fucked if you don’t have a smartphone nowadays because it’s like your wallet/keys/money/bank/email/notepad everything in one. And yet at the same time it spies on you and spams you with notifications and ads.

Overall the necessity and ubiquitousness of our tech but it’s also hostile to the user and almost inescapable.

Yeah I get em from anna/libgen etc. So I took an epub, converted it to kepub, but when I copy pasted it onto my kobo it didn’t show up in my book list. Did I do it wrong?
