  • Wild to think that it’s over after so long. This series wasn’t always good (particularly season 3 and 4), but this was an alright final season.

I feel like some interesting concepts haven’t been fully explored and loose ends not being fully tied up. For example, the invertion of the Spirits kinda ended up being a nothingburger, same with Tohka being a Pure Spirit.

Kurumi’s goal was kinda left out at the end and we weren’t really shown a proper conclusion for it imo. Sure, Mio died, but not as an act of revenge. I would’ve liked to see Kurumi coming to terms with it all. Seeing Kurumi at the end though, enjoying the presence of cats was cute.

Same with Artemisia. Supposedly brainwashed, but that was all. No further info on what happened afterwards with her.

I also would’ve liked to see what happened to the world now that, assumedly, Spirits are no longer a problem.

The whole Isaac Westcott thing was a little bit meh as well. He was more of a nuisance getting in the way of the actually interesting stuff than a good additional villain.

While this season was okay at best, there were a lot of interesting and good ideas here, even if, imo, they didn’t come to fruition properly. Unlike season 3 and 4, this season remained competent when Kurumi wasn’t directly involved. The OST also still is one of the best things about this anime. Some really solid themes with great arrangements with an awesome throwback to the 1st season’s OP at the end. The OP and ED were amazing too, despite being a little spoilery at first. There were some great heartfelt moments this season as well.

I don’t think I can give this season more than a 6.5/10, but the anime as a whole would probably be a 7.5/10 (which may or may not be skewed by nostalgia for season 1 and 2).

  • Not everything is finished yet, but:

    • Astro Note: really fun and good vibes with a retro feeling style.
    • Konosuba S3: still one of the best comedies, even so much time later. Kazuma and party are still such a breath of fresh air.
    • Hibike Euphonium S3: really good. A shame that there isn’t much playing shown, but the character drama is sooo good.
    • Jellyfish cant swim: pretty good. Nice and heartfelt.
    • Spice & Wolf remake: I think I might prefer the original, but this one’s good too. I like the slight change in her voice and personality.
    • Mysterious Disappearances: I like this a lot. It’s nothing special, but it just clicks with me.
    • Delicious in Dungeon: good fun and gripping when it got serious.
    • Yuru Camp: cute, but imo it’s a step down from previous seasons. Just doesn’t feel as comfy for me.
    • Gods Games We Play: dropped after 5 eps. It was really boring.
    • Kaiju No.8: it’s fine. A lot of similarities with AoT, but not as good so far. Pretty standard battle shounen imo. Kafka may as well be a teenager. ED sucks ass.
    • Many Sides of VA Radio: I like this one. The 2 mains are fun together.
    • Date A Live V: it’s fine. I like the premise and ideas a lot, but it executed pretty meh. At least this season is better than the previous 2 and is still fine when Kurumi is not in the ep. Music is still fire though.
    • Unnamed Memory: bad. Just bad. Started fine, then took a nosedive real hard halfway through, making it clear that the 1st half wasn’t actually fine and that they skipped everything important.
    • Chillin’ In Another World Lvl 2: good fun. Rys is fun.
    • An Archdemon’s Dilemma: good fun as well. Would like to see more.

The season itself was fine overall. No large standout like last season with Frieren and Apothecary Diaries.

    Might still pickup:

    • Wind breaker
    • Girls Band Cry (if I can find proper subs)…
    • Train to the end of the world

  • Ended up watching it after all… This episode once again makes it clear that this anime skipped a fuckton. Everything important happened offscreen and stuff didn’t make sense because there was no setup. It’s like this anime is produced by shippers who only care about seeing the ship sail.

How nice of Leonora to give the missing princess a fortress with servants and luxury. She didn’t seem all too distressed at all. She was also found pretty much immediately.

Also, what was up with that amber castle thing? Previous ep it was said Leonora was the one who encased it in amber, but why does it make her more powerful?
