I’m sorry that happened to you. I haven’t heard about anyone experiencing this but it makes sense that life altering events can permanently change your brain chemistry.

Social media is not left wing, the algorithms will show you exactly what you want to see and sometimes try to steer you to the right.

Neurotypical people use their judgy comments more strategically (although accidents happen for anyone). They say them when they are insecure, feel threatened or for some other reason want to make someone else feel bad about themselves. This is also why they get more offended when a neurodivergent person says something that the NT person perceives as judgy. The NT person assumes that the ND person intentionally wants them to feel bad because they project their own behavioural reasoning onto others.

Finding community is hard nowadays, but it’s so worth the struggle of finding one. You can find it in many different ways:

• find a leftist org and become an active member
• find a local Palestine solidarity group
• find a local squatter house and join open events If no leftist spaces exist… :
• join a local sports group
• find a local game store that organizes events
• find a local book store that organizes events Etc etc etc

If you’re awkward at social events go to more. It takes a while to learn to be comfortable. It doesn’t matter if you’re weird, there’s always weird people at social events and if you’re nice then there will always be someone who will enjoy hanging out with you. You can go to 10 events and not really talk to anyone but at some point people will recognise you and talk with you. Try to think of the sort of event you would feel comfortable at.

Instead of abandoning people who need some kind of assistance to be able to function in our society, why don’t we look at why increasingly many people need assistance and what we can do to change society in such a way that people are able to navigate life without begging the government for crumbs to survive.

Apparently Ruby Rose went from identifying as non binary to identifying as woman because people told them they couldn’t be lesbian and non binary. That makes me sad. They were my first trans awakening.

The source is the Gazan health ministry. They are so careful on what information they publish that they have been massively underreporting the death count of Israel’s atrocities. Very weird to put their data into question like this.

I don’t think it’s an all or nothing matter, that seems silly. We don’t know if the movement would be the same if he hadn’t thrown Venezuela and Cuba under the bus. But we do know that there has been a change in the political climate in a somewhat good direction. Zohran as a person can only slightly impact this climate so it doesn’t matter all that much that he’s not a principled leftist. We should criticise him but that doesn’t mean that the movement associated with him is useless.

It’s less about the results of Zohran himself and more about the political climate that allows him to win with a demsoc message. It shows that the power of media propaganda is limited and that people are willing to take a risk by voting for more leftist ideas instead of ‘stability’.
