Ik that Piefed has it, but I don’t think that Lemmy does.
But doesn’t Piefed have the ability for mods to distinguish / un - distinguish themselves?
What about, instead of having the DM/GC feature in-house, Lemmy instead integrated a separate protocol like:
Matrix
XMPP
Delta Chat
Session
Briar
SimpleX
OMEMO (XMPP Extension)
etc.
And used that instead, for the DM/GC?
That way, Lemmy wouldn’t have to donate resources to DM/GC, but users would still be able to message each other.
And not have to have two separate accounts on two different platforms.

Are the tags similar to how reddit allows users to put custom labels / tags in a Subreddit?

Then I guess that the term “Trade In” might be better.
As I mentioned in the post, it’s similar to how Pachinko Rules work.
The coins themselves don’t have any monetary value.
What you do is you purchase the amount that you want, on the platform server that you are planning on using them on.
Ie Peertube.
You would then tip / etc with them.
And then, the creators, etc. that you pay, would then be able to cash out those coins for real currency.
It wouldn’t just be for servers, but also for content creators (ie Peertubers), etc.

I’m not asking for Lemmy to become a chat platform.
I just don’t think that it is reasonable to expect / require users to have to download a whole other app / platform, just to converse with the mods as a group.
