Don’t dual boot on the same drive. Windows doesn’t play nice with Linux on the same drive. Bazzite is probably okay for a first distro but I prefer Mint for that sorta thing. I personally run Debian on older hardware and Fedora on newer stuff that isn’t supported. Bazzite is ‘immutable’ which means it’s rather difficult to extend it’s capabilities if you might want to. I have had mixed results with it though on different machines, stability wise.

23·21 days agoMy favorite is “we haven’t had REAL capitalism for x years, it’s all crony corporatism now”. I actually got one of those comments this very week. LOL. Tell me you know absolutely NOTHING about anything in one sentence, plz.

bloomer@hexbear.net•Im vibing. Despite everything. Hope to paint some minis soonEnglish
2·23 days agoI get great results from the “slap chop” method. My best advice as someone who has hung out painting countless armies with some GW folks who had infinite mini collections is don’t cheap out on brushes and if you aren’t trying to enter a Golden Demon contest then get some really good paint like SoFlat by Golden paints and learn to mix/thin your own colors. The paints aren’t exactly cheap at the outset but you get so much more for your money than GW’s tiny overpriced “official” paint jars. Also I really like the “bubble popper” silicone stim toys as paint mixing wells.

philosophy@hexbear.net•I have an existential question for youEnglish
3·24 days agoTaoist thinking views making distinctions between “things” as arbitrary and something of a mistake. To consider one’s life as anything but a constituent aspect of the totality of existence and therefore functionally necessary and assigning a limited concept of worth is a sorta fundamental error in thinking.

4·24 days agoThe understanding of the men of ancient times went a long way. How far did it go? To the point where some of them believed that things have never existed - so far, to the end, where nothing can be added. Those at the next stage thought that things exist but recognized no boundaries among them. Those at the next stage thought there were boundaries but recognized no right and wrong. Because right and wrong appeared, the Way was injured, and because the Way was injured, love became complete. But do such things as completion and injury really exist, or do they not?
There is such a thing as completion and injury - Mr. Chao playing the lute is an example. There is such a thing as no completion and no injury - Mr. Chao not playing the lute is an example. Chao Wen played the lute; Music Master K’uang waved his baton; Hui Tzu leaned on his desk. The knowledge of these three was close to perfection. All were masters, and therefore their names have been handed down to later ages. Only in their likes they were different from him [the true sage]. What they liked, they tried to make clear. What he is not clear about, they tried to make clear, and so they ended in the foolishness of “hard” and "white. "Their sons, too, devoted all their lives to their fathers’ theories, but till their death never reached any completion. Can these men be said to have attained completion? If so, then so have all the rest of us. Or can they not be said to have attained completion? If so, then neither we nor anything else have ever attained it.
The torch of chaos and doubt - this is what the sage steers by. So he does not use things but relegates all to the constant. This is what it means to use clarity.

5·29 days agoNot really, I guess it depends on what distro you use though. I have a newer laptop running Fedora just fine. Tried a handful of other distros before I settled on Fedora though. Bazzite (don’t like immutables that much) and a couple other obscure ones that I can’t remember the names of rn but had issues of some sort. I generally prefer Debian but it’ll be a while before they get a newer kernel afaik. Any distro that ships with only vi and without nano is doing it wrong, imo.

Get some kasoori methi (fenugreek leaves) for finishing stuff like this imo. I love to make chana saag (basically this with a bunch of greens) and methi is soooo good in it. Smells vaguely like maple syrup and it’s hard to overdo it.

They probably still believe it. The power of propaganda and the discouragement of curiosity instilled in USian public indoctrination centers is not to be underestimated.
