I wasted my time reading the opinion piece. It was worse than I expected:

Rising interest in protein and concerns about ultraprocessed foods are causing some people to look at carnivore-style diets. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a carnivore champion, has loudly expressed his affinity for beef tallow.

The reason science is based on consensus is because anyone can be tempted to use their title as doctor or scientist or whatever to make money by lying and selling snake oil. For example, the “handful of doctors” mentioned above trying to make money from their YouTube channels.

If what they were saying was true the entire medical community would be saying it. Not just a handful of YouTube influencers.

We’ve seen this same scenario with vaccine deniers like your buddy RFK mentioned above.

Some pediatricians are very concerned. Small children need vitamin C, which is involved in the healthy development of cartilage and connective tissue, and fiber, which is important for digestion and the functioning of the gut microbiome, said Mark Corkins, a pediatric gastroenterologist at the University of Tennessee and chairman of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ committee on nutrition. Neither are prevalent in meat-heavy diets.

As I said. The doctors that are doing their jobs as doctors and not as YouTube influencers or selling snake oil are concerned because they are basing their decision on peer reviewed research that has established a consensus with the whole science community world wide.

This part was good:

As a registered dietitian herself, she was initially skeptical. “I said, that’s crazy,” said Bonkowski, a 36-year-old from Howell, Mich. Then she became obsessed, watching hours of videos a day and devouring comments from women who said eating only animal foods helped them conceive.

She went mostly carnivore about 2½ years ago. Bonkowski didn’t become pregnant, but she and her husband now have a 1-year-old daughter, Isabella, who they adopted as a newborn.

Isabella is on a carnivore-stye diet, too. “If it makes sense for adults, why wouldn’t it make sense for kids?” said Bonkowski, who is now a stay-at-home mom.

1. She finds YouTube videos about meat based diets for fertility.

2. She agrees that it is crazy based off her knowledge as a dietician.

3. She tries the diet and it didn’t work.

4. She feeds her adopted newborn based on the diet that didn’t work.

This shows the lack of critical thinking skills this person has. She even says, “If it makes sense for adults, why wouldn’t it make sense for kids?” oblivious to the fact that it didn’t work for her fertility issues like the YouTube videos said.

Bonkowski did start giving Isabella some fruit a few months ago; the baby occasionally became constipated on the animal-only diet.

The diet didn’t even work for the baby…

Meat is a good food for babies and toddlers because it provides essential nutrients like iron, zinc and protein, said Steven Abrams, a professor of pediatrics at the Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin. The forms of protein and iron in meat are easily used by the body.

Protein and iron are in plants also… and in this context “protein and iron in meat are easily used by the body” is a bad thing. Fiber is a macronutrient only available in plants and it’s primary role is to slow the movement of food in our digestive tracks by making it not easily used by the body.

This is why eating animal products causes type 2 diabetes and is the #1 cause of colon cancer. Animal cells break down too fast in our digestive track.

It then goes on to talk about the handful of doctors supporting these diets and of course they are also selling products to profit off of saying something other than the scientific community.

Voters were very clear that they would consider it a betrayal to primary instead of replacing Biden with the Vice President since that is the job of a vice president.

I saw that town hall on Fox News with Bernie. The people in the audience were asking about what he was going to do to fix climate change and a lot of subjects that Republicans deny even exists. That audience wasn’t Republican don’t lie to yourself.

Bill Clinton won two consecutive terms.

Hillary Clinton won the popular vote and lost because of Russian election interference.

Biden won.

Harris lost because of inflation caused by post covid supply chain problems, according to the polls.

Ignoring the fact that voters chose the furthest option to the right give the next election to the GOP, if there is another election.

There was recently a post here on lemmy that proposed AOC running for president and the top voted comment was that she would lose. Even here on lemmy enough people are aware of the leftists echo chamber and how detached it is from reality.

AOC and Bernie stopped in my red state. I went and saw more than half the license plates were from out of state. Those that were from my state were from the one blue county.

We recently had an election between an establishment Republican and a progressive and the progressive lost by a landslide.

Don’t lie to yourself. AOC and Bernie have fans that will travel to see them from other states.

Democrats are trying to stop progressives from throwing the election like they have every time they win a primary.

Progressives can’t even beat other candidates that get funded by AIPAC let alone beat republicans.

I am vegan for the health benefits: avoiding colon cancer, avoiding type 2 diabetes, improved cholesterol , reducing visceral fat, avoiding overeating, longer healthier life, etc.

Not contributing to animal cruelty is a bonus but not my motivation so lab grown meat isn’t going to change the way I eat.

If it becomes efficient enough to reduce greenhouse emissions then that would be the only benefit I would get from it.

When choices are far right and center right, center left and far left voters just stay home.
