I am a retired LEO and IT professional.
I have been involved in some type of communication platforms from the mid 80’s when I ran a multi-line BBS under OS/2.
I now run one primary website (Xenforo) that deals with astronomy and astrophotography but do tech work for a friend that is using NodeBB on a Xenforo alternative support site.

  • Migration is one of the things I think NodeBB is going to have the hardest time over. I moved a site that was on SMF2.1 over to NodeBB recently. I had to manually recreate all my posts and then create the users manually copying their data from the old SMF forum over to the new and resetting a password. Those users were notified via email that they would need to perform a password reset if they desired to continue using the site. The adoption rate would probably be higher if there were easy migration from other scripts into it. I am thinking primarily older vB installs, myBB, SMF and phpBB as the biggest ones.
