Omnist and Mystic

I am currently learning how to explore the Akashic Records, and in my free time, I enjoy reading stories on AO3, especially set in the Human Domestication Guide universe.

  • I had a Fairphone 4 with iodéOS before the microphone broke. And the microphone isn’t repairable… 🙃

Now I’m on a Pixel 9a with GrapheneOS. Just set it up today but it’s been pretty smooth thus far. I’m on Tello (T-Mobile network), and I was even able to get RCS connected within Google messages after following some advice I found.

  • I was arguing with my mom a few weeks ago because she was spouting racist anti-immigrant bullshit randomly, and I told her to stop watching Fox News.

She said, “I don’t watch Fox News anymore. They’re propaganda. I switched to NewsMax.”

    ಠ_ಠ

I honestly hope they destroy and bankrupt each other. We literally can’t mention politics anymore or else it will turn into a shouting match, because she is so brainwashed and propaganda-addled and gets angry when I literally back myself up with evidence that I show her right then. We even had to come up with a safe word if we get close so we don’t start yelling.

  • I am using Bluefin, based on Fedora Silverblue. I realized that I was already exclusively using flatpaks for everything except one random app, so I thought why not go all-in?

Haven’t had to worry about updates or system breakages since, and it’s been great so far.

I used to use Debian Stable, but since doing SysAdmin work I’ve just become used to the way Fedora / RHEL does things.

  • Holy crap. Use the Tab Stash extension. Separate tabs into windows and stash the entire window. It will save them all to a group or collection that you can name, and you can go back and reopen them when needed.

Seriously, I can’t imagine how outdated your browser is if you never close it, not to mention the last time you restarted your computer. You’re one power failure away from chaos.

If you also get the xBrowserSync extension, you can back up all your bookmarks and tabs so if your computer ever dies you can restore it to a new browser install.

  • This is a very late reply, but I ended up formatting it back to Windows 11 and selling the laptop. It’s just not quite ready for primetime, and seems very limited during regular use-cases. I ended up buying a Framework 13 laptop, and installing Fedora on it. Couldn’t be happier! Eventually I may move back to ARM-based machines once they progress a bit further.
