This is, actually, an absurd opinion. Massive civilian casualties are inseparable from war, and you will be hard pressed to find a war without them.

The laws of war are built around, and exist because of, this assumption. They exist to give a framework that sets forth principles by which the loss of life can be evaluated.

Otherwise, by your definition, every warring faction ever is a war criminal.

Yes, the land is stolen. Yes, resistance is legitimate. No, murder of civilians is not acceptable, no matter which side does it.

Would you really hold the same view if native Americans massacred American civilians in the US today?

Many dual citizens pay double taxes in some way or another.

Also, some countries are vindictive towards those who renounce their citizenship and make it very hard for such persons to enter, which is a pretty big deal for anyone leaving friends and family behind.

Other countries don’t allow for revoking citizenship whatsoever.

One reason to allow dual citizenship is to encourage immigration, especially of in-demand professionals who would otherwise be quite deterred by a one way ticket.

I don’t agree with the thinking behind this, but note this cuts both ways - international agreements have many provisions to prevent statelessness.

So the state can now strip a dual citizen of their German citizenship, whereas before once someone chose German citizenship both the state and person are stuck with each other.

It’s amazing how hard this is. Once I started working on it I realized how much of the time I am just running a search of something in my experience that is somehow related, instead of actually listening and thinking of follow up questions.
