I do not agree with you. Yes I’m a developer myself of Mbin. And I created Mbin. However, the problem with decentralization is that you still need to trust the developers who are building the decentralized apps. So within a decentralized ecosystem the centralized point are the developers and its project.

If you do not agree with Lemmy, you can go to Mbin. And visa versa; if you do not agree with Mbin devs, you can go to Lemmy, etc. Meaning you do need to have alternatives, otherwise choice is an illusion and decentralization is also an illusion.

That is why it’s important to also use other software than Lemmy like Mbin or Piefed. Users want choice and the Fediverse is only as decentralized as the software running on it. So please, think about this.

So I’m playing games like age of empires. But also open source alternatives like 0ad using lan. Works great!

I’m talking the old school age of empires and age of mythology games btw.

Next, there are also good need for speed games like need for speed 3 hot pursuit from 1998. Which works very well via lan.

Maybe red alert also works, or open source alternatives like OpenRA. And then we have games like Planetary annihilation, which also have lan feature.

I have no idea how kbin.social was able to operate with that many users while running kbin.

Where was some custom things doing on for sure. Maybe @piotrsikora@pol.social can recall how they get kbin running at all back in the days with that many users.

Long story short; we are doing our best :). Mbin development team is still small. But I like to focus on stability a lot in the recent years, and I still am.

Progress is maybe slow but steady, introducing missing features and performance improvements along the way. Maybe it’s good to mention that all developers on Mbin work voluntarily without getting paid. Lemmy developers on the other hand are fully paid by their community and can work full-time on Lemmy. We all do the work next to our main job. Thank you for your understanding.

I try to help and closely work together with @jerry@infosec.exchange (who is the admin of that instance) a lot to get Mbin as stable as possible. So to glad to hear you notice the end result.
