The only reason that gap exists is because Joelinton is forcing Gabriel’s head down, but that doesn’t matter because an “action” by Gabriel already occurred? I think he’s more likely to dig his heels in and back Raya. Mudryk’s fluke sliced cross wasn’t Raya’s fault. The annoying part is that Raya isn’t an obvious upgrade to Ramsdale, he’s better at some things but worse at others. I know Arteta didn’t like how inconsistent Ramsdale had become with his long distribution but we’re now less press resistant when we’re playing out from the back because Raya’s pass selection is not optimal to beat the opponents’ press.
