ryepunk [he/him]

Just some pathetic cis white boy from Canada’s worst province who never amounted to much of anything. Work in a grocery store that is mostly okay, but don’t make enough to live off so I’m resigned to just trying to not cry too much every day. I have a partner I dearly love.

  • I work retail and make 22 bucks an hour. It’s fine. I get by with assistance from a partner. I don’t think I’ll ever own a house.

But there’s no way in hell you ever get 48 hours. You can’t get 38 hours. Hell I’m lucky if I get 30 hours. I do get benefits. Because we have union.

48 hours a week retail will break your body. You’re either standing not moving at all and that fucks you. Or youre stocking shelves with giant ass heavy shit bending down to uncomfortable stances and ruining your knees, back, shoulders and probably something else. It is not an easy job physically.

  • Probably in my late teens. My parents were pretty dull meat and potatoes type. My dad never spoke about politics and my mum was fervently anti communist (and to this day refuses to believe communism can ever work, just look at the Soviet union and china! Oh china is only beating us now because they’re becoming more capitalist!) so I was pretty conservative or libertarian. Because you know no world experience. I distinctly remember super hating green arrow in the justice League unlimited cartoon when I was like 18. Oh a big leftie who wants government to help people? What a joke of a hero!

Thankfully working and participating in a union, getting a degree in history from professors that seemed fairly liberal but not really in favour of capitalism or communism. Also my major concentration in history was military history (such a cliche I know sorry) but specifically ended up with lots of classes on the Soviet Union. Which made me more amenable to seeing other sides of coin. Learning that much of the popular western tropes about Soviet participation in the war were utter fabrications really helped introduce me to the concept that the west was desperately trying to reframe history around how the Soviets were incompetent and only won because the west was so awesome.

Disillusionment with Obama becoming a complete joke of a president, not accomplishing much of anything and the discovery pseudo left gaming spaces online helped guide me further towards things while I also fell into the Chapo subreddit and was introduced to how leftists are always right and we need to become communists or else everything is fucked. I think the west wing thing podcast helped alot as well.

  • Elbows up though right Mike Myers? Fuck anyone who thought this banking scum bag would be good for anyone but the richest in society.

Oh I haven’t read his book that reveals he does care about doing the right thing? Really because it seems like he’s a fucking banker and doing the right thing will always be making sure the economy and business is supported before the actual people in the nation get support and only if he can figure out some genius play to make both happen at the same time can normal people get any assistance.

Typical lib shit whereby they can never just do the good thing, they have to give us a lesson on why doing the good thing is bad because x. Where x is usually “companies and rig people lose money”.

  • Alternating between horizon forbidden west and my Kotor 2 playthroughs (playing along with more civilized age, so I’m doing light and dark side).

Finished lies of P Overture, and it’s really great. The initial release was insanely overtuned and boss would basically kill you in a single hit. They added difficulty modes so turning it down did result in you surviving two attacks but that was it. The patch that came out after week basically fixed them below new game plus 3, so you didn’t have to perfect parry their entire movement to win the fight. I liked it and it establishes some more cool lore for that setting.

  • Damn I barely made it through one playthrough of the game. The gameplay is good, but they constantly are burying it under horrible exposition, and what passes for a joke to gearbox, and terrible pseudo open world levels that make you learn for the days of the corridor shooter. Don’t even get me started on that God awful home base hub ship that seems designed to frustrate you. it’s not big but suffers from one of the worst cases of “big town problems” than most RPGs with actual big towns.

I do love me some numbers go up though so maybe I’ll dip into Tina’s wonderlands some more.
