

I never liked this take because I work as a dev and optimisation will be one of these things that drops off the priority list when your team is a skeleton crew with 100 managers and you have about enough time to implement the barebones of what you’re making and move on bugs and all.
This is typical called a minimum viable product and for the last 10 years of professional development its all I’ve ever been able to make.
This post wasn’t for shitting in devs its because I’m very interested in game engine tech but lack a lot of knowledge and wonder why something from my perspective seems simple and low cost to implement gets missed assuming there is actually a valid reason to leaving it out I’m just curious. Also death stranding is a rather well optimised and finely tuned game so its omission most certainly isn’t developers being “lazy”
