  • The recruiter was paid by the companies to find people so it was at no cost to me. I have little experience of recruiters I would pay i feel like they’d be different. Most recruiters i end up in contact with are from linkedin DMs. Its been about 7 years since I’ve had to apply for a job so I don’t know how relevant anything i say is now.

I’m one of those cringe programmers so the recruiter worked out well but yeah it’ll not be so great for other jobs although i have no experience to know.

  • I have very recently trained myself to just let people be wrong sometimes. You have to pick your battles and dedicate the energy to people who you think will actually listen and just nod and smile at the ones who don’t. Also sometimes the thing the person is being wrong about is just not that important and doesn’t really need to be corrected.

  • I’ve never successfully got a job by applying on indeed or any other website the only methods that have worked for me are

    • Applying for a scheme, mine was an apprenticeship scheme but graduate schemes also work the entrance requirements are low cos they usually want to get as many people as possible and the scheme has to find you something. This is limited to being young and or a recent graduate unfortunately.
    • A good recruiter, I once had a machine of a recruiter who in the background was doing hundreds of applications for me and got me an interview in like 24 hours, got the job and bought me coffee then asked if i wanted to apply for another job she found with an even higher salary before I’d even started the one i just got. I feel like if i took her up on the offer I’d probably have been a CEO by the end of the week
    • Nepotism. Absolutely nothing works better than plain old nepotism. Its almost always a guaranteed interview and the bonus of having someone put a good word in gives you a huge advantage. Some companies even have referral schemes where the person referring gets cash

Job market is absolutely trash atm though. I’m largely trapped where i am all my applications have been falling through for months usually i would get a hit on something.

  • What is it with this website and shit takes recently?

It’s a pointless regressive punishment that doesn’t solve anything other than to shame the child and not actually understand or teach anything useful. Yeah wouldn’t call it abuse its just backwards and completely useless at doing what its supposed to do. You could ynow try TALKING to the child who is also a sentient lifeform capable of reasoning.

Anyway the post is about how these arcane punishments didn’t stop the school shooter doing ynow the shooting…

    Hate this site

  • Doing all the side content until i burn myself out at hour 20 trying to be a completionist. Did this with all the witcher 3 question marks in the first areas and was done with the game before i even got to the next section. I now only do side content if its on my way to the main content unless its a game where only the side content is worth doing eg. Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3… A trend hmm

Going for 5 stars on every race in a racing game. I just have to let myself lose or i get stuck on one annoying race i can’t 5 star which is why I’ve never finished burnout revenge.

Modding. I spend hours modding and tired myself out before actually playing. I’m strictly a mod only when something bothers me person now so bug fixes and small qol improvements nothing else.

Forcing myself to play after I’ve lost interest due to sunk cost. Literally just a waste of time there’s no point pushing through boredom there’s no reward on the other end.

Touching any modern multiplayer game. If its not coop with friends its a time black hole that nothing of value can come from except losing hours of my life. Multiplayer games are intentionally created to be vapid addictive experiences which I’m just not interested in. I yearn for the days of old battlefield when it gave me an experience that made me actually want to play with people.

Not cheating in a singleplayer game when it gets too tough because i must preserve my pride to my audience of zero people and nobody gives a shit if i cheat. Sometimes games are more fun when you don’t have to bash your head against a wall. Halo 2 infinite ammo easy mode in coop to get revenge on those sniper jackals that made me rage on legendary and laso.

Leads onto just play the game on easy. Drop the damn difficulty. If combat sucks in a game why extend it with a harder difficulty? Drop it to easy and just blitz through the story. Its more fun that way.

Sometimes it best not to know anything about a game before playing it. This clashes with the fact games cost money but maybe try it with pirating. Just find a game with cool box art and download it. Knowing too much about a game can ruin it
