Drug dealers famously try to avoid being searched, and driving a vehicle is one of the most vulnerable methods of transport in that regard.
By this logic they should be riding camels as that’s the least searched mode of transit.
I think you’re reading way too much into this.
on a bike you can just take a shortcut that the police can’t follow
on a camel, you can quickly traverse the desert the police can’t follow.
