We are already in heaven. The divine already lies within us. This has always been and will always be true. Each of us must simply stop reinforcing the fear that this is not so. Meditation helps us learn how to stop. By stopping, we can truly experience what we are and better understand our connection to the universe. Through the practice of meditation, one can witness the confluence of everyday consciousness and singular, pointed concentration.
Can you give us a meditation technique instead? Succinctly and plainly. In your own words. Drawn from your own experience. Something fast-acting. Something that demonstrates the power and promise of meditation.
That would be better than a mountain of wise philosophy.
Sit down on a mat or pillow. Close your eyes. Pay attention to your breath. Observe your mind as you move your awareness up and down your body, pausing at different points along the way. Continue this practice until you want to do it often and regularly. 🙏🏻
Ah, this is my favorite subject.
What do you mean “breath”? The sound of it? The feeling of it in my belly, chest, throat or nose? The idea of it? There’s a lot there. And to place my attention upon all that is too much for me.
I find it easier to hold my attention upon the feeling of breath in the end of my nose. That is what I use as my “object” when doing that style of meditation. (the “holding my attention upon a thing” style)
As far as the “Observe your mind as you move your awareness up and down your body” part goes, I have not done that.
And speaking of meditation techniques, I only do Vipassana these days.
What do you do?
Mostly chakra meditations. I find them to be the most effective.
Elaborate please. What do you do with your attention? What’s the payoff?
Wait nevermind. Wrong thread. Weirdly overlapping. (You know, the lemmy app ui leaves a lot to be desired)
Or actually, go ahead and answer if you like.
