Can I have a cliffs notes? I’m genuinely interested in what this guy has to say but not an hour and 17 minutes interested. I also watched it for a certain length of time and I’m not sure he’s familiar with a lot of good stuff that’s been done outside of Windows GUI development – I’ve used a ton of different UIs from various OSs and read about some other more experimental ones, and I have some thoughts on it, but I’m a little worried that it might be just him explaining why Windows’s UI is bad which I already know.
He gets into some of the Linux desktop environments towards the end of the video, but it’s not just why windows is bad, it also goes into how he used 3rd party software to create a unique workflow for himself (which doesn’t work with Windows 10, much to his annoyance), and he also goes into concepts that haven’t been created or are mainstream yet, or his vision of a dream GUI, like using Pie-menus.
He’s not an ultimate authority, and some of his GUI desires are more subjective than objective, but overall its a very entertaining watch, as I found his thought process interesting. He may have more appeal if you’re already familiar with his Game Dungeon or Freeman’s mind series.
