Looking at that one artist who “remixed” the “I’m Blue” song and made something completely unlistenable and forgettable out of it.

      forgettable

Hard disagree here. I have a deep, seething, hatred for this song that precludes forgetting that travesty.

Her voice is nasally and grating. It takes an already annoying song and somehow makes it worse. The lyrics are uninspired and sound like the first thing she came up with (“I’m good, yeah I’m feeling alright” Are you kidding me? You dug a song out of its grave and insulted it with THIS?) and the “Let it go Na Na Na Na Na” part with her incredibly nasally voice makes me want to break something.

Fucking hell this comes up on the radio every time I drive and I’ve had to borrow my mom’s spare car while my bike is fucked. I don’t mess the radio because I’ll forget to turn it back, not that there is anything better on anyway.

I’m all for covers, it’s interesting to hear someone else’s take on a particular song, but remixes where all they change is just the pitch and/or tempo are just lazy and unappealing.

A good remix changes the song enough to sound like a different song but with inspirations from the original. A bad remix just changes the tempo and layers garbage on top. Not all remixes are bad but many of them are low effort.

Or they add a bunch of trap/dubstep nonsense and lazy stuttered and repeated vocals. It’s been done to death.

I personally don’t like either. It feels like I’m the uncanny valley of music and it makes me want to hear the song I heard first.

What about when both are massively different?

Feint - Starscapes and Feint - Starscapes (Rameses B remix) don’t sound similar to me at all, for instance. The original is too generic and uninspired.

    In a word, Yes.

The music industry, like the movie industry and video game industry, wants guaranteed hits. What better way to guarantee a hit than to rehash some old thing that is now more than 7 years old. (And falling!)

Take a happy song and make it sad by slowing it down. Never mind that the lyrics are still positive and happy.

I’ll stop the world… And melt with you…

      You know it’s getting better… All… The… Time…

We’re at the point of monkeys typing keyboards and waiting for entertaining things to come out of it.

It’s not that the process changed or got better … we just kept adding millions of monkeys to the system

AI is the equivalent of adding billions of monkeys and while they produce a lot of stupid senseless stuff, every once in a while it makes sense.

Dunno about TikTok, but it will be done so long as it runs numbers up. Just look at Jack Harlow trying it again.

Felix Cartel completely ruined You Get What You Give. Let’s turn an upbeat, happy song full of energy into the most basic, boring, sleep-inducing track possible, where even the singer sounds bored and is half-singing. Plus the annoying repeated vocals typical of creatively bankrupt music.

They didn’t threaten to kick Courtney Love or Marilyn Manson’s asses in. Jokes aside, fucking awful cover.
