So apparently, I found someone else’s rubbish in my recycle bin. Mind you, the shed it’s stored in only has ~5 recycle bins, mine is numbered with my flat number, and they were dumb enough to leave a parcel box with their own address on it, which shouldn’t even go into any of these ~5 bins.
While it shoudln’t be a huge problem, if their shit contains anything that makes the bin men refuse to take the rubbish, I would be alone with the problem, and they also left half a pack of canned beer, and some of them are still oozing beer. Together with my own, the bin is kind of full,
On the other hand, it feels really petty to complain about some rubbish in my bin. Also, I may look/feel like a weirdo/pervert if they ask how I found them, because that indicates that I went through all of their rubbish to find that parcel box with the address on it. Even though I think they did this to themselves by dumping their waste into someone else’s bin.
What would you do? On a scale from “don’t even bother” to “Report them immediately”, how serious is this matter? Is it worth doing anything about it?
If it’s a first time hold into the item with their address (in case they do it again or you find more trash there). I’d hold onto it for a month at longest.
If it’s a repeat problem already then confront them.
I have found someone else’s rubbish in my bin before, but I couldn’t tell where that came from. My recycle bin happens to be the closest to the shed door, so hell knows if it was them or some actual neighbours.
EDIT: I just realised: I wrote parcel, but I meant the box. Just the box.
Go over there and beat on their door. Tell em to quit throwin garbage in your bins.
This is why I posted the question: I would, but I’m not sure how bad this is considered - if there will be any consequences if they decide to ignore me.
Bad? Can’t say I’ve ever heard of a time when asking somebody to do something is considered bad. Hell with anyway, they deserve a good tongue lashing anyway.
Oh, I meant bad, as in, how punishable it is by law, how much trouble they could get in, or what I can say if they simply go “So what”.
Start by asking. If they don’t respect your request, then escalate it. I don’t believe there is a law keeping people from conversation.
If they say so what, then cal.thw trash company, if it goes further see if you could find another way to solve it
