Welcome to the Melbourne Community Daily Discussion Thread.

This post is brought to you by Bot #001. Learning the days is really hard. I’m so worn out I can barely tell my 1s from by 10s. So today will be a day of rest.

I just wanted to reiterate how nice it is to not be feeling hurt/pain about my break up anymore, I’m sure there will be moments but I’m just feeling so overall positive and happy. I’m feeling ready to put myself out there and start dating again and just go with the flow.

I’m super proud of how much healing and learning I’ve done in the last year, I’ve changed so much and definitely for the better. I’ve made more friends, I work hard to prioritise my social life and to keep those relationships going so that an actual relationship is just a supplement to my life.

I’m excited to get my adhd assessment done and my diagnosis soon and to keep learning. I’ll head back to therapy once I have my tax return and just keep trying to make some positive steps to be my best.

I made a list of to do and to learn and now I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed and not really sure how to prioritise and tackle it. Why do I do this to myself

Do the small easy stuff first. Then separate the stuff between the things that need to be done and the things that can wait.

Thanks. That’s a good point. I’ve been trying to tackle the hardest (probably most useful but not most urgent) stuff first and it’s frustrating me to no end so I probably need to start small to get started to not lose my mind and motivation in the process.

I do this. My daily to-do list has some easy wins so I can tick stuff off and feel I’ve achieved something. You’re right, some things can wait; for me they are either ‘now’ or ‘not now’, a trait of Time Blindness that people with ADHD experience. And of course the best planned to-do list can be derailed as soon as a ‘now’ task jumps into your thoughts.

If I do the small stuff and the urgent then even if I get one other thing that needs to be done done then it’s a bonus.

Thanks for that. I just hope I can stick with the plans I make because I generally struggle with structured and scheduled time blocks unless it’s for work where I get paid for it lol.

expand the list out, one page per item. Then goal as the heading. Break it down into skills and time lines.

Thanks. I started a hierachy with the to learn list but probably need to write down some solid goals, objectives, and timelines. I want to make a habit of doing little bits during the week so I’m not cramming everything in on the weekends - that should help me decide how long things will realistically take too.

I just stopped by the Subaru dealership on my way home and had an in-person look at the size/height of the Outbacks. I think it might be just about what I’m looking for, moving from an XR6 to something a bit bigger and taller without going full SUV. I’ve been looking at the XT Touring and maybe the XT Touring 50th anniversary special edition. Could be a winner, maybe once I’m back from my holiday I’ll look more seriously.

Then I just gotta make it purple 😈 💜

Its’ sofa night. I work weekends, so this is my Friday. Mrs_Owl is up at 6am tomorrow to start her working week. By mutual agreement, she has the bed and I crash out on the sofa at some point in the wee hours thanks to YouTube auto-play.

When was the last time you cleaned your windows including the fly screen and around the frame? You would be surprised at the filth and the dust. The soapy water was black scrubbing (gently) my fly screen. And the filth around the window frames was black too.

I don’t think of myself as a dirty person but clearly I let this go for too long.

I know they’re absolutely filthy because of how black the water is when it’s rained onto them and some of it’s gotten on the windowsill. Don’t think mine have been cleaned in years and I’m not about to bother doing it now. I hate the job. It’s fiddly and without a movable shower head it’s really tedious. I won’t do it until summer if at all.

My mum lives on the ground floor of a whole bunch of apartments in Asia and she’s directly opposite a multistorey open air carpark. She needs to wash her fly screens once a month at least and they are always black. The previous owners just closed the windows and used the air conditioning all the time.

I love cleaning fly screens. It’s so satisfying to clear off all the gunk, and the room is brighter after! It’s amazing how much light all the scunge blocks.

Sealord I do enjoy your Wholemeal Crumb Hoki Fillets but I’m sorry there’s just no way I’m paying 9 dollars for two pieces of frozen fish, no matter how hearty the pieces might be.

Everything, Everywhere, All At Once is a movie unlike any I’ve ever seen before. It was very creative and thought-provoking. Would recommend.

Several people brought small children (and one baby) to see the almost 3 hour, very loud Mission Impossible. They were predictably loud almost immediately during every semi quiet scene and no efforts were made to quiet them.

People… what a bunch of bastards. I need to remember to go see movies at obscure hours on weekdays.

Now I’m deep into my Game of Thrones reread I’m reminded of the disappointments I first had with the show. I think one of my big petty disappointments is the costuming, everyone is so colourful in the books, even old Ned wears a bit of colour. I get why it was changed, but it would have been fun to see everyone not constantly in their House colours.

Even when they ARE in their house colours, the costuming as described is way more extravagantly full on in the books than the show.

I love reading about the subtle things, like embroidery and buckles and fastening made to look like little things from their home lands.

Also would have loved show Sam to rock up to The Wall in his fancy arse clothes, would have been rather humorous, him in his lovely purple velvet doublet.

Animal and dinosaur pasta is the best.

I miss the days of alphabet pasta though. Can you even still get that?

Omg I’d forgotten all about alphabet pasta! I used to make it when the kids were very little and learning the alphabet (to try and engage then with the learning in a fun and tasty way) but I haven’t seen it in ages.

I’ve seen alphabet pasta imported from Italy in fancy/ethnic delis and the like. I swear it used to be more common??

Definitely not as common as it used to be when I was still a kid. I don’t think I’ve seen it on the shelves in forever.

I still see dinosaur pasta around though.
