Dehumanizing and othering are fascist tact, leave that to the fascists.

Edit: othering isn’t, I stand corrected.

They have destroyed the social contract of tolerance. So i’ll “other” them as i like because they chose that.

We’re done here. Literally - they’ve destroyed the climate, the holocene extinction is happening right now and right-wing fascists the world over are responsible. We’ve debated, they lost. This is what that looks like.

They must be called to account and the only way that happens is by destroying their collective immunity.

You know, that’s a good point - othering them is us not tolerating their intolerance, and you’re on point with everything, here. I believe the flaw was with me, listing othering with dehumanization as though they were remotely equal in impact or offense.

I appreciate the discourse, thanks for contributing!

Meh, republicans aren’t people and I’m tired of pretending they are. They’re more akin to zombies I’d say.

You cut that shit out right now.

They’re reprehensible, obviously. But that doesn’t make that not human. That’s the same kind of rhetoric that leads to folks believing they could never make bad or evil choices, because “only a monster would make that choice, and I’m not a monster”.

And then you think no choice you make can be that bad, because you’re a good person after all. This is precisely the kind of train of thought that the modern-day Republicans have when they take away human rights, and you should never allow yourself to fall into this trap.

It is reaping what you sow… and they are not alone.

“Reaping what you sow” is one thing, but it is never reducing our enemies to less than human. Not now, not ever.

Calling evil evil is not equally evil.

Standing up to evil is not equally evil.

Defending one’s self from violence is not equally violent.

        Etc etc.

None of that is the same as classifying your enemies as not human. That road leads to genocide and fascism and we are above that.

Wait til you hear about the Republican frontrunner then.

Obviously better to police the language of niche leftists on the internet though for calling evil evil though. 🙄

When people tell you who they are, believe them.

We could just villify them. They stand in the way of freedom for anyone who doesn’t want to live under a theocracy.
