I know this is old and hinges on your favor of trump, but I have more respect for Sen. Young after this and his breaking away from Republican shenanigans regarding this border security.
This is who I was previously talking about. I didn’t realize you were local.
Terre Haute, sadly.
Ah, I’m sorry. 😉
👋🏼 Previously (1991-2002) West Lafayette here.
Moved back to my prior, more lefty Minnesota where family is, but miss some aspects of Indiana.
I’ve only been in that area a handful of times. I went to Wolf Park and we’ve been to Feast of the Hunter’s Moon a couple of times. That was great.
There’s better stuff around here, but those are kinda iconic.
Feast was a great time. Both times. And I can’t think of how else I’d get a good rabbit stew in Indiana.
Hey, I’m one of the Freemasons that works the rabbit stew booth at the Feast every year!
I was one of the scouts that did garbage cleanup for most of my time there. I miss the feast. I just found out about a local rendezvous, and so I’m excited for that in Minnesota this fall.
Awesome! I probably saw you!
Could be worse, you could be from Ohio like me.
It really couldn’t be. Have you been to Terre Haute? It makes Youngstown look nice.
How bad can it be? You have… um… the ghosts of all those death row guys and stuff.
Yeah I see.
I’ve passed by on I-70 during various road-trips but never stopped. If it makes Youngstown look nice though must be one hell of a shithole.
There is a reason to stop if you are of a certain political persuasion- Eugene V. Debs, who ran on the Socialist ticket in 1920 from prison and got a significant percentage of the vote (only 3%, but for a socialist in the U.S., in prison no less, that’s amazing), was from Terre Haute and there is a museum there in his former house. Bernie Sanders took a sideline from his campaign in 2016 to make a private stop to see the museum.
Huh, I’m going to make a point to stop next time if I can and check it out. Cheers!
