It’s called polyphasic sleep and yeh, we used to do it (more commonly) before street lights were a thing. It’s still a thing a lot of people do, siesta being a common example
Thankyou! I always thought there was something wrong with my sleep pattern. I get tired early, go to bed, sleep until around midnight, wake up for at least an hour (more commonly 2-3) and then go back to sleep and wake up by 7am. I didn’t realise that was normal and ok! This is a revelation to me!
