Vladimir Putin has “made a decision” and there will be “severe punishment” following Ukraine’s incursion into Russia, according to the Russian ambassador to the US.

Mr Putin was clearly frustrated at the Ukrainian incursion, but a ruthless Russian military response was only one option. Ukraine is short of military capability - soldiers and weapons - and it appears that they have deployed up to 10,000 soldiers (probably battle-hardened) into Russian territory. This “fixes” these Ukrainian forces well away from the frontline Russian action in the Donbas.

Mr Putin knows that progress on the frontline will slow when winter arrives, so his forces have perhaps 10 to 12 weeks remaining to achieve the objectives of his so-called Special Military Operation. By focusing on Russian main effort in the Donbas, Mr Putin knows that Ukraine has diluted the forces available to resist the Russian assault towards Pokrovsk, which might enable greater progress in the limited time available.

Once Russia’s objectives in the Donbas have been achieved, Mr Putin might consider that he can address the Kursk incursion in slower time.

What could ‘severe punishment’ mean?

Anything worse than what they’re been doing already for 2.5 years?

Maybe. They’ve been holding out hope that Ukraine & US/Europe would be reasonable, so they avoided committing to full-scale war.

Possibly 'cause they’re rusted to dust due to stolen maintenance funds.

Yes, yes, very edgy, well done.

This Kursk thing really pantsed Russia. How embarrassing must it feel to be a nuclear superpower, losing ground.

Sure, it’s an intelligence failure, and a humiliation. But then what? Ukraine moved in 30 km, and now they are stuck fighting to hold insignificant 100-population villages in a strategically irrelevant area. If this was done in Crimea, or Zaporozhie, or Belgorod, it’d be a different discussion.

Makes me wonder if they’re even able to see getting invaded as a just response for invading others.

Oh right, because Ukraine is the just side in all this. Russians go home. Leave the poor Ukrainians alone, so they can go back to genociding half the country and revere their Nazi ancestors.

          US/Europe are immensely benefitting…

Proxy war in Ukraine is an absolute disaster for European economies and the US are not doing so well either.

Kinda hard to be reasonable when fighting for survival

Correction, western-backed Ukronazi regime is fighting for survival. Regular Ukrainians are fighting for survival by evading forced conscription by Ukronazis.

Oh, and a giant PR failure

So, AFU is fighting for PR, while Russian forces are fighting a war of attrition. Guess who will prevail.

And women are at fault of getting raped?

Those responsible for proxy war in Ukraine are sitting in Washington, not Kremlin.

          Citation needed

Ukronazi MoD regularly posting Nazis in AFU should be enough for anyone with more than 2 braincells. Top ranking Ukronazi official said all civilians in Crimea are considered valid targets, when they recently attacked a beach full of civilians with ATACMS missile.

Why would you support OUN Ukronazi regime is the question here? That’s what most Europeans are asking themselves these days, while their economies slowly crumble and they suffer under neoliberal austerity measures.

How can the banned person believe that? Prices are rising like hell, everything is expensive. Weapon manufacturers are benefitting of course. But I don’t know of anyone who is doing better right now. Flour, milk, eggs, meat and bread are expensive compared to before the war. I spend more mony on food now then before. Everyday working only to have few Euros to fix a broken washing machine and the rest goes for rent, electricity and food. Public transport is also getting more and more expensive. Every shit is getting expensive. Where does the population profit, when a huge amount of money is put into military, then into health sector.

Fuck the bourgeoisie who is benefitting front that, they should spent their time in a GULAG. How deluded can someone be to believe, people are benefitting from it. Banned person is stupid.

Additionally, I have more and more average Americans online telling me they want to move to Europe, so things are pretty bad over there as well. They just don’t know Europe is worse off.

Europe shot itself in the legs by decoupling from Russian gas, then shot itself in the head by placing tariffs on green technology because it basically has to come from China.

It’s so over for Europe it’s not funny. I am afraid things can only get worse…

so things are pretty bad over there as well

That might be due to domestic policies like allowing companies to run away with inflation while making record profits, and losing rights such as the Dobbs decision on top of the fact that we never had workers’ rights here in the first place, even under the Biden-Harris administration which is supposed to be the party that deals with that stuff.

We’re also in an election cycle and the libs love to say they’ll move if the opponent wins with zero actual intention of doing so

Anything worse? Absolutely. Have you seen Western Ukraine? It’s doing fine.

The Kursk thing showed a weakness in Russian intelligence, yes.

But the idea that this is a moral exchange is liberal brain rot.
