Apple could make a feature where you can opt out of having your contact info shared. For example, you might not share your contacts with Facebook. But a friend shares their contacts, and your info is in their contacts. So Facebook have you in the graph and they know a lot about who you’re connected to. Apple because they make iOS and Google because they make Android are the only people who can really do anything about this. They can filter out your name and phone number if you have opted out so it isn’t visible to apps that see people’s contacts. There would be ways around it but that would violate Terms of Service and could get a company kicked out of the App Store which is lethal for their business.
