One small step for Lemmy, one big step for us :) While I don’t aim to be a big instance, it’s exciting that people are using it 🙂 Thanks everyone for this!

On this occasion, I would like to ask a little question. What do you think, if we make the instance humor/meme focused instead of general-purpose? I think the hostname is very appropriate. I’ve also read that Lemmy developers prefer more focused instances over general-purpose. So IDK what do you think??

I just signed up today. Cool to see this place growing. Shifting the instance’s focus sounds good - it’s not gonna affect our ability to interact with other communities anyway, and it’ll help attract activity.

Cheers, I came just now too!

    meme focused instead of general-purpose?

About being memey I think that could work as a brand, but to host mostly humor communities might be difficult in the sense that most generic and some niche meme communities have already been created elsewhere, of course that doesn’t stop us from replicating some of that here, but I don’t know, I don’t have the crystal ball
    the orb is being pondered

Yes, I gave up too. Based on the feedbacks, it makes sense to be general-purpose and also have meme communities.

I’m more towards letting this instance continue to be a generalist one. There might be several meme communities here, but I think that allowing the users to create the communities they like, even if not related to memes, is better for their freedom.

I, myself, would like to have the freedom to create a community here, even if it’s not about memes.
