Sorry for the downtime, the server has been moved onto better infrastructure so hopefully it won’t go down as frequently in the future

Thank you so much for hosting! Would you consider creating an account on a Mastodon server (or another Lemmy server) that would serve as a reference point if the server is down?

Maybe there is a better way to do it, but it could let users know if you’re doing a server migration, dealing with exploits, etc.

Whenever you decide to upgrade to 0.18.x could you give advanced notice of when the upgrade will happen so if people can’t get on during the process there will reason to be concerned?

Yes of course, originally I planned to do this server move with a bit less “bang” but the server crashed for the… 4th time this weekend, so it was more of a “Fuck it let’s do this” sort of thing.

I planned a page to show progress and everything, but never got the time to deploy it :')

Pretty sure Lemmy has a memory leak, it’ll eat all the memory of the server and need a reboot. This was with 8GB of RAM as well, but hopefully getting it updated to 0.18.x will fix that (but I heard there’s an issue with XSS at the moment so I’m holding back)

Can I follow you on Mastodon so I can see updates? Vlemmy seems to have completely disappeared so it would be nice to know if downtimes are just that, or permanent

No need for now, if it gets to be more of a handful I will start asking for mods, maybe crowdfund a larger server etc but I suspect it’ll be alright :)

Have you been keeping an eye on the issues other sites have been having with exploits? May want to check out the posts on Lemmy.world.
