Played the games. Not interested.
A new story in the setting could be good
Retelling the game sounds bad. Conveniently, the reasons why are nicely outlined in the article.
I like the last paragraph… Look at what they did with fallout solving all those same issues. No idiots, they came up with new characters and new story.
I loved the games but unless the show is pre-ME1, I’m doubtful they’ll be able to make it without pissing off some or all of the fans.
Now if they make 8 seasons of the Blasto movies then I’m here for it
How could they piss off the fans worse than Andromeda did
I actually liked Andromeda for being kind of different. I’d be interested to see more of that tbh.
I would prefer that they do the last few seasons of The Expanse instead
Extremely unlikely due to Kamal’s actor rapey attitudes forcing his own on-screen death (and firing). I’m not complaining with the attempt at closing the main plots where they did, given the cards they were given. I’m happy they tried to give it a decent ending and closure.
I didn’t find the final books so amazing compared to the rest of the series.
I still wanna see it. Having not read the books
Noooooooo Edit: I will allow it under the conditions that it is created entirely in Gary’s Mod.
There was actually a webmovie years ago created entirely in GMod. Mingebag something or other.
Skibidi Effect
I expect the worst but I hope for the best. Maybe we’ll get Fallout or maybe we’ll get Halo…
I haven’t watched fallout yet, just because I haven’t been in a “fallout” mood since the show dropped, so my only experience with video game shows is Halo.
And I literally couldn’t finish a single episode.
So as long as nobody grabs a shovel, at the very least they can only trip over the bar. It’s as low as can be.
Fallout is excellent.
Fallout is actually really good. It feels like you’re watching someone play through the games. Each episode has something pulled straight from the games going all the way back to the first Fallout game. The writers and show runners have been fans of the series ever since the beginning, and you can honestly feel it.
I’d recommend watching it, when you’re in the mood. But even the comedic parts still lend to the weirdly funny bits from the games, and there are more than a few scenes that straight up feel like random encounters. Bottom line, the show was made with absolute love and you can tell. I’m excited for season 2.
I thoroughly enjoyed Fallout, so I’ll be cautiosly optimistic until further details emerge.
The article brings up challenges with adapting customizable PCs to a fixed story, but I think the easiest solution is to just copy Fallout on this one. Don’t try to adapt the flexible story og the games with a percieved ‘default’ Shep, but tell a separate story within the universe.
I could see the conflict when humanity discovers FTL and eventually has a war with the Turians as a potentially fitting storyline. Has enough lore to give writers a starting point, doesn’t touch any player decisions or customizable characters, and gives people not familiar with ME a nice entry to “discover the ME universe” alongside humanity
It would also be cool to see Anderson during the First Contact War
Based on the writing of their last 3 games. I have a bad feeling.
I can’t wait to see Commander Shepard, she’s gonna be bloody great!
I wonder which origin they’ll go with…
I’m pretty sure we can all guess which origin Netflix would pick.
Officially with an 80% of getting killed before release?
Better be Femshep.
