Summary
The U.S. House of Representatives, led by Republicans, passed the “Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act” in a 218-206 vote.
The bill redefines Title IX protections, banning transgender women and girls from competing in school sports that align with their gender identity in federally funded schools.
Critics, including 400+ civil rights groups, argue it could violate students’ privacy and lacks enforcement clarity.
The bill faces slim chances in the Senate.
Broader political conflicts over disaster relief funding are complicating its path forward.
Do they not care about transgender men in sports?
They probably just assume that transmen will always lose to “real men” and won’t be a “problem”.
It will be fun to watch the conservatives rant and rage when that assumption is disproven, except that it will lead to more bad laws.
Wouldn’t ftm hrt violate doping rules already?
I think testosterone is one of the controlled ones
Yeah, I think you are right. Would have to be a trans man that isn’t (currently?) on it, and I have no idea what the rates are for that kind of thing.
