To be honest, I’m incredibly pleased with the result. I spent half a day with the overall structure, and in general learning how to blender, and another half with actual sculpting. I made many mistakes and had to go back. I even messed-up in the end. This is too heavy I believe, and the topology is terrible because I wasn’t constantly re-meshing (I wasn’t paying much attention to the tutorial)

Awesome job! I’ve just recently finished the donut for Blender and my second was a random game object. Can’t wait to really dive into sculpting as well. BTW, Blender has a solid community discord if you’re looking for more feedback, tips, etc. https://discord.gg/blender

    It’s a great start.

The real magic in sculpting is getting the super fine details that you otherwise wouldn’t be able to do with standard modeling techniques. Like textures in the fabric and surfaces, scratches on hard surfaces, etc.

i strongly disagree. Focusing too early on the fine details rather than the broader shape is a mistake I see lots of beginners make. Sure, there is a place for sculpting these details, but in my opinion, as a beginner, you should not care too much about the details and focus more on getting the big/medium shapes right.

For doing game-ready stuff, I think it’s almost always a better approach to do the fabric and surface scratches using a height map or other texture paintingapproaches.

In the end, I want to clarify that this comment may sound more evil than it should have. I totally get that sculpting these details is fun, and in the end, having fun is kind of the whole point of creating art in the first place.

For a first time it’s fantastic!

I’ve learned blender about 5 times now and still can’t get the hang of the sculpting.

I don’t know anything about this stuff, but I think if it’s top heavy. You can have it three d printed With a honeycomb structure inside to reduce weight on the top

Edit also oh yeah good job, looks cool :]

Check out the left knee a bit more, it feels unnatural. Keep up the good work! I’m rooting for you!
