Any european music streaming sites to replace spotify and youtube music?
Spotify is European.
But it is still a corpo cancer tho
Revanced works nicely on android (while it is free, is still American though)
Not a music streaming app.
It does also support YouTube Music
Here to clarify!
Revanced patches the official YT music app! It makes it more convenient by removing stuff like ads, among with other tweaks you can see in the app. You’ll still technically use their app (a modified version of it) but they won’t get any revenue. The artists also won’t, so be sure to donate to them or buy their albums if you like their stuff!
Spotify is based in Sweden. Though, they’re ripping off artists, too.
Also donated money to trumps inauguration.
and are paying Joe Rogan millions.
Are they some that don’t rip off artists?
Quobuz has been decent to artists so far (that’s why they have many indie labels signed up)
Iirc Napster pays artists the most per play.
Good question. I don’t have an answer to that. Maybe someone else has, but I guess there aren’t that many out there with a music catalogue like this. There are several smaller services which show up on Google. But I don’t have any experience with them. And there is Apple, Tidal… But I don’t know what they pay forward to artists.
Some are worst than others
well i didn’t know that so learn something new. Still spotify is shitty and I haven’t used it in years now, and was just youtube music but looking for a replacement.
Qobuz is also French.
And it’s good!
I liked it a lot, more than Tidal (what I have now). But the last few months with Qobuz I had streaming issues, because of something on their end. It was a freak issue though. The catalgue was absolutely wonderful especially if you’re into jazz like me. It allowed you to browse record labels too, which I sorely miss.
I switched because of the streaming issues and because tidal has a connect option, which allows me to send music without compression over wifi to my stereo, natively from tidal (spotify has it too, but lower quality sound)
Unfortunately it doesn’t have much music from my country. It’s a shame, because I don’t listen much of English music.
But they do have a request form, which is nice!
Isn’t Spotify Swedish?
Donated 150,000 dollars to Trumps’ inauguration
Oof didn’t know that.
Oobuz is the French alternative.
Qobuz
Soundcloud
This one gets my vote as I’m allergic to subscriptions and it allows music streaming without one where Qobus seems to only play 30 secs of a song unless you pay
Great for electronic music, it’s from Germany
Qobuz 👍
I think TorrentGalaxy is run in the EU, but I could be mistaken
Spotify is from Sweden. (https://nl.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spotify)
Maybe you have other reasons to look for a spotify alternative, but its european.
Spotify gave money to Trumps’ inauguration
Deezer is French
…in origin, now owned by US/Russian corp.
Source? Their team is still developing in France.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deezer
Look for “access industries”. They are the biggest shareowners of this public owned company since 2016 with a 41. 7% ownership of Deezer.
If you want to help a French company, try quobuz.
Have you tried funkwhale?
looks interesting from a quick search - can you say any more about it? How does it work, what kind of music is on there, how legal is it?
Not really. Have not tried it myself.
I use YouTube Music with an ad blocker. Arguably better, no? Make them pay while I enjoy my music for free?
And if that doesn’t work any more I’ve got my extensive MP3 library from way back.
Not really imo. Ad blockers can limit a person’s revenue on youtube so if I can find a music service that isnt american and supports the artists then that’s what I want.
There is a small swedish startup that now resides in Luxembourg that has a huge selection.
