8 GB of PC RAM was barely acceptable a decade ago and it remains true a decade later especially on gaming laptops. Unfortunately, models are *still* shipping with just 8 GB of RAM which can noticeably impact the user experience.
Some budget gaming laptops from MSI are shipping with just 8 GB of RAM and an anti-tamper sticker to dissuade end-users from upgrading the memory themselves.
This is just petty.
As long as it isn’t soldered RAM - wtf Mac? - that would not dissuade me. I still wouldn’t buy one though.
we picked up a 8gb laptop last fall. soldered ram. knew it going-in. but it’s for home use… and it was only $230 (us) for a ryzen 17in laptop.
